LAKE SHORE RESIDENCE

Our Lake Shore Residence in New York’s Hudson Valley sits across from the beautiful Roaring Brook lake. The lake is surrounded by full-time residents and vacation homes and provides a swimming and boating refuge from the summer heat. Despite the picture perfect view from the property, the home had virtually no site lines to the lake from inside the home.

Our new construction addition and interior renovation of this 1950s split level home adds a new kitchen which opens upward to let skylight in from above with a picture window that frames views of their beautiful, boulder filled landscape and 60 year old barn.

Interior renovations of the existing kitchen and living space include new skylights, reconfigured circulation, new hearth, and fresh floor to ceiling picture windows. The lake is now visible from all public areas of the home.

Our design also provides a small front entry addition. Prior to our design intervention, the front door opened directly into the living room bringing snow, mud, and clutter into the center of the home. With this new addition, gusts of winter wind and muddy shoes now have their place.

Connecting the two additions is a sprawling deck to watch the lake and enjoy warm nights and bonfires.
